Sarah Ostman has been promoted to news editor of the Sun Post after working as a community and news reporter since late 2006.

Co-publishers Carlon Perry and Cecelia Drake welcomed Ostman to her new post this week.

"Carlon and I are pleased that Sarah has accepted the position," Drake said. "We are confident she will bring a no-nonsense attitude in bringing the news home to you."

Ostman, 27, was born and raised in Bristol, Conn. and received a degree in sociology and theatre arts from Smith College in Massachusetts.

After graduating, she spent four years in Chicago, where she worked for non-profit arts organizations.

In 2006, Ostman made the trek across the country to San Joaquin County. Her foray into the newspaper world came later that year when she started writing for the Tracy Press. She found her niche at the Sun Post shortly thereafter.
